We came across this large snapping turtle in the old canal, eating duckweed! I had always thought that snappers were strictly meat/fish/eaters. This one was gulping down big mouthfuls of floating duckweed as we watched.
This man-made pond was the most enchanting pond I've seen in a long time. It was full of mating toads.
There were also many newts, which I haven't seen for many years.
Mating toads on top of egg masses.

Also some pickerel(?) frogs.
